Stano was found through the slow food app and was a wonderful lunch.

Situated in Matera a short walk from the very centre, it is modern inside and beautifully furnished.

Service was exceptionally good and friendly as a tourist.

The food was sublime, combining some traditional elements with modern twists.

To start I had the Matera Fry. This was the lightest fried food I have ever had. The cod was simply incredible and as someone from the UK we know our fried fish well! The other elements including the crusco peppers were also exceptional.

Next I had the fusili with peppers, breadcrumbs and cheese. The pasta was freshly made, perfectly cooked with a little bite, but not at all heavy. The sauce was simply incredible in my opinion.

Finally ai had the donkey steak wirh rosemary potatoes. There was a lovely softness to the potatoes which complimented a well-cooked steak of a meat I had not previously tried.

This is a very very good restaurant indeed and it is reasonable in my opinion for the quality of food.

We were a group of four so we tried many dishes combined. They were all fantastic. All of the dishes had a local flare which also made them unique.

The waiting staff was very attentive and efficient even though the restaurant was full. We had our main waitress and three other staff serving us.

We traveled in a group of 3 couples and visited the whole of Puglia in 7 days. At Trattoria Stano we had the most attention from the staff. The food is local, delicately prepared and very tasty. We would definitely come again.

Amazing restaurant where food is great and service is amazing. If you want to taste local ingredients, depending on season, prepared and cocked at high level this is a place you must visit. The Marro is made with interiors of sheep, amazing: don’t think you can find anywhere else. Cocked this way. Pasta selection is great and fave with cicoria is an appetiser that will set you for dinner. I saw a spectacular dish on tables near me that is the Pignata. Next time I go I will try some. Menu is rich and you do not go wrong any option you pick. Service is friendly and smooth. Waiting time is just perfect. Restrooms are clean and neat. Overall experience is high level and final price per person is amazingly fair! Thumbs up for Stano!

The food was perfect, the waiters gave the right amount of attention. I had fried seafood times before, but this was the best I have ever had. The pasta was also fresh and perfectly balanced in flavour. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their dishes.
