If you are looking for a review of a top-tier beachfront seafood spot, VotaVota in Marina di Ragusa is a standout choice that perfectly balances Michelin-level quality with a relaxed beach vibe.

The Setting:
Having visited nearly all Michelin-starred restaurants in Sicily, I can say this location is hard to beat on a sunny, calm day. Situated right on the beach of Marina di Ragusa, the restaurant offers an unobstructed view of the Mediterranean Sea. It manages to feel sophisticated yet relaxed, avoiding the stiff formality of some Michelin-starred establishments—making it ideal for a long, breezy lunch.

The Food:
The menu is a true tribute to the ocean, with the vast majority of dishes featuring fresh seafood. Unlike traditional trattorias, the kitchen uses modern techniques to elevate local ingredients. The highlight of my 10-course tasting menu was the Spaghetto affumicato, burro e alici (smoked spaghetti with butter and anchovies).

Service & Experience:
The staff is highly knowledgeable about wine pairings, selecting bottles that cut through the richness of the seafood perfectly.

5 stars experience at Vota Vota,

The à la cart menu is not extensive, few and premium options. Easy to read and tasty seafood options.

The attention to details is impeccable. And the food is delicious.

A very pleasant, contemporary space with floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the boardwalk, beach, and sailboats drifting across the sea — an unforgettable setting. The atmosphere is modern yet relaxed, perfectly framing the creative cuisine. Every dish was beautifully presented, refined, and full of distinct character. Service was polished and attentive from start to finish. A truly dramatic restaurant that delivers on every level — superb food, exceptional staff, and a view that makes the entire experience feel special.

Ristorante VotaVota provided our absolute best dining experience in Italy. We opted for the 10-course '10-Year Anniversary' menu, and it was nothing short of incredible. The execution, presentation, and seasoning were flawless across every single course, effortlessly transitioning from savory to sweet. Their Michelin star is a 'no-brainer'—the level of sophistication here is world-class. Additionally, the sommelier was fantastic, providing expert pairings that elevated each dish. This was a truly unforgettable experience; if you find yourself in the south of Sicily, do not hesitate. You won't regret it.

We visited this restaurant tonight with high expectations, but unfortunately, our overall experience fell well below the standard you would expect at this level. Frankly, both the service and the atmosphere were poor, preventing us from truly enjoying our evening.

From start to finish, the service felt rushed. The staff were almost running through the dining room and the dishes arrived in a rapid succession. Cutlery was placed on the table quite carelessly, and the explanations of the dishes were also rushed. A compliment goes to the sommelier though. He was the clear exception to the rule, pouring wines and explaining pairings with passion and expertise.

The atmosphere was highly disruptive for a fine dining establishment. First, there were multiple dogs allowed in the restaurant, which at one point even started barking at each other. As dog owners and lovers ourselves, even we believe that dogs simply do not belong in a Michelin-starred dining room.
Additionally, there were several tables with quite young children and even a baby. Children will be children, so they naturally started running around and playing, while the baby cried and screamed occasionally. This completely shattered the tranquil, refined atmosphere you look forward to when investing in a Michelin-level dinner.

To end on a positive note: the food itself was delicious. It is a genuine shame that the surrounding circumstances completely overshadowed the culinary artistry of the chefs.

Ultimately, the total experience was not Michelin-worthy for us. We have had significantly better dinners in this region for a third of the price.
