It could potentially be a good restaurant, but instead it's just a decoy. We had a reservation for two and they sat us inside between two families with children, but so far nothing wrong. I asked if we could sit outside, perhaps even wait, especially since the inside dining room was scorching hot, and they told us it wasn't possible because they were full. Then, after 10 minutes, three or four tables were freed up. This alone shows the poor organization of the dining room. We waited a while before ordering (about 20 minutes), and in the meantime, they didn't even bring us drinks while we waited for the appetizers, which arrived before the water and wine. The cuttlefish with peas tasted like meat (I've never had a seafood dish taste like grilled meat), the anchovies were so large they didn't taste like anchovies, but at least the escarole was decent. We also ordered fried calamari, which never arrived. It was added to our bill and then removed after we pointed out that the dish never arrived. For our first course, we had chickpeas and clams, which wasn't bad, but for €18, it only contained six clams, which is outrageous. Our other first course was a simple spaghetti with clams. The pasta was very overcooked and they garnished it with oil and cooking water. Clearly, the dish was left untouched, and the owner, kindly understanding the embarrassment, didn't charge us for it. However, I must say that the Cilento wine was good... I don't think we'll be back.

Our wedding, thanks to Gianluca (the owner) and the Caupona team, was a wonderful celebration! I'm writing this review a little late because I waited for some photos to give a sense of the setting. The venue is structured on two levels: the upper level features an airy, easily accessible Mediterranean-style portico overlooking the sea. Guests can dine on the terrace in front of the portico on beautiful spring and summer evenings. Downstairs, a large room equipped with a pizza oven welcomes guests in a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
Our party was held on the portico, beautifully decorated and with attention to detail, from the tables to the presentation of the wedding favors. The idea was an aperitif, a buffet with finger food and endless courses (fish specialties and local vegetables), two first courses (one fish and one vegetable), and a fish second course (sea bass with almonds). The waiters were impeccable, making dinner incredibly comfortable for our guests. Everything was delicious. The white wine (an excellent local Fiano) was recommended by Gianluca, a sommelier. A drinks station and a confetti buffet were also provided. I couldn't have asked for more; it was a wonderful evening that will remain in the hearts and memories of my husband, myself, and our guests, who relaxed, appreciated the location, and the impeccable quality of the food. We will celebrate our anniversaries at La Caupona to rekindle the memories of that special day.

The place is enchanting and doesn't deserve the respect of some restaurateurs. Terrible service, starting with a dirty bottle brought to the table... followed by a forgettable appetizer with an octopus head and beak on the plate when the menu actually called for tentacles... and finishing with a hideous and tasteless tuna dish with side vegetables different from those listed on the menu. Paying a fortune to practically starve. Everything was promptly reported to the waiters, who literally didn't care. Not even a caress on the bill or the attention that should have been obligatory. An experience to forget.

It really pains me because the location and setting are truly wow... everything else is out of control. Terrible service, 2 hours for simple pizzas. We arrived at 8:45 pm and were served at 11 pm. The children fell asleep at the table, we were hungry. Considering the heat, we ordered I don't know how many bottles of water and Coke while waiting for the pizzas to arrive. I'll publish the prices. Almost all the pizzas are Margherita, including the Provola e pepe from Tribunali (a historical evocation of a Neapolitan street) which we paid for for provola and pepper, only to be told that the provola had run out when it was served. Paying €3 per person for a place setting without a cloth tablecloth is pure madness to me... also because the mise en place is really basic. A diner ordered a tuna tartare, and on the edges of the slices there was obvious oxidation of the fish... in my opinion it hadn't been covered properly with film in the blast chiller or, more likely, in the fridge. The pizzas arrive, we're just above average, some with burnt bases, others had better. The service isn't bad, it's just absent. We were brought dishes we never ordered, evidently there's no communication between the kitchen and the service. You have so much potential, you just don't know how to maximize it. If you accept outside reservations, I DEMAND to sit outside. Easy, right?

Both the restaurant and the delicious pizza are excellent! Enchanting location.
